Paris Saint-Germain‘s priority is to extend Kylian Mbappe‘s contract rather than pursuing a move for Lionel Messi.

Messi’s Barcelona contract expires at the end of June and PSG is seen as a possible destination for him this summer.

However, as reported by L’Equipe, while PSG are in contact with Messi, they are more focused on retaining the services of Mbappe.

Mbappe has scored 37 goals in 43 appearances across all competition this season and PSG, including manager Mauricio Pochettino, want to ensure that the 22-year-old remains at the club for the long term.

Messi was heavily linked with PSG when it appeared that he could leave Barcelona last year.

France international Mbappe, meanwhile, is a doubt for the second leg of PSG’s Champions League semi-final against Manchester City next week due to a calf problem. City are leading 2-1 from the first leg.
