And Leicester have won the race to sign Bertrand who had also attracted interest from a number of other clubs in England and abroad.

Sportsmail reported Leicester’s interest in Bertrand last January when he was being considered as a potential replacement for Chelsea-bound Ben Chilwell.

Rodgers is a long-term admirer of the England international and this will be the third time they have worked together. He was a youth coach at Chelsea during Bertrand’s time in their academy.

Bertrand then spent a year on loan at Reading under Rodgers, who was also keen on a reunion when he was Liverpool boss.

His arrival could provide a boost to boss Brendan Rodgers after long term injuries to left-backs Timothy Castagne and James Justin.

Castagne has been ruled out of Euro 2020 after a double fracture to his eye socket in Belgium’s 3-0 win over Russia and will be a concern for the start of the Premier League campaign and requires surgery.

Justin, meanwhile, injured his anterior cruciate ligament and faces a spell out.

Bertrand isn’t the only deal Leicester have agreed, with the club wrapping up a move for Red Bull Salzburg forward Patson Daka in a £25m switch.

The Zambian international was officially unveiled on Wednesday, when the Foxes confirmed he had put pen to paper on a five-year deal.

Daka, 22, had previously been linked with Jurgen Klopp‘s Liverpool and Arsenal.

Speaking to LCFC TV, Daka said: ‘I’m so, so excited to join this great, historic club. It has been my dream and I’m so happy and looking forward to what’s coming next.

‘I have followed Leicester from the time they won the league. I feel it is the perfect place for me, because it’s a team that fights for titles. I know it’s not going to be easy, but I feel ready to face this new challenge.

‘I will give my best for the Club each and every day, and I look forward to seeing the Leicester City fans inside the stadium soon.’
