Napoli have reportedly drawn up a shortlist of three candidates to replace manager Gennaro Gattuso at the end of the season.
Gattuso has had a difficult relationship with club president Aurelio De Laurentiis since his criticism of the team earlier this year, with the manager unhappy about reports linking other coaches to his job.
According to Sky Sport Italia, via Football Italia, De Laurentiis has already started planning for life without Gattuso and is considering Luciano Spalletti, Christophe Galtier and Vincenzo Italiano as replacements.
Napoli are reportedly considering three candidates to replace manager Gennaro Gattuso
Lille boss Christophe Galtier (L) and former Inter Milan boss Luciano Spalletti (R) are on the list
Napoli insisted they had ‘total confidence’ in Gattuso back in January after reports De Laurentiis had rung Rafa Benitez about taking the job following the club’s 3-1 defeat by Hellas Verona.
De Laurentiis asked for a meeting with sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli to discuss Gattuso’s position but then decided to stick by their manager.
A statement read: ‘President Aurelio De Laurentiis, Vice-President Edoardo and CEO Andrea Chiavelli have had a meeting with the first-team squad and coaching staff this evening and confirmed their total confidence in coach Rino Gattuso.’
Spezia coach Vincenzo Italiano is another possible option the club are said to be considering
But the club are now said to be looking the possible candidates once again.
Former Inter Milan and Roma boss Spalletti, Lille manager Galtier and Spezia coach Italiano are all said to be under consideration.
Spalletti is currently out of work after leaving Inter in 2019 but has regularly been linked with a move to Naples.
Galtier has had a fantastic season in charge of Lille, with the club top of Ligue 1 and looking to win their first title since 2011.

Italiano helped guide Spezia to promotion from Serie B in the 2019-2020 season and is on course to keep them in the Italian top flight for another campaign.
However, it is also claimed that De Laurentiis could try and convince Gattuso to stay if Napoli qualify for the Champions League.
The club are currently third in Serie A but are level on points with Juventus and AC Milan, who sit in fourth and fifth place.
