JESSIE WALLACE has been handed a “clear warning” by the BBC after a drunken brawl that saw her shout abuse at a police officer.
The 50-year-old actress, who plays wild Kat Slater, left the officer on his knees in pain after a punch up in the early hours of Sunday.
FUMING BBC executives held a string of meetings in which they vowed to “get to the bottom of things”. It has since been reported that the BBC top brass had no idea about incident until The Sun broke the news.
It has now been revealed that the soap icon has been handed a clear and possibly final warning, risking her future on EastEnders.
A spokesperson has said: “Senior bosses have spoken to Jessie Wallace about the incident and issued a clear warning that this kind of behaviour is unacceptable and Jessie has expressed her deep regret.”
A witness to the shocking incident said: “The police were trying to move people on.
“She told them to f*** off. She was irate and started shouting. One officer said, ‘If you swear again, we will arrest you’. She said, ‘f*** off you fat c***’.
“She was very drunk. An officer then put cuffs on and told her she was being arrested for a section five public order offence. She looked upset and kept saying sorry.”
